Foal Watch Cam 2022

Live Foal Watch Cam

Lady Macjazz (also known as Freja) is expecting her second foal this year. On April 27, 2021, she was bred to Include (pensioned after the 2021 breeding season), so we are expecting an April foal. With her first foal, Lady Dyanaformer, she waited a full 365 before giving birth, but we're hoping she goes closer to the normal average 342 days this time with a due date of March 27, 2022.
Freja is usually outside enjoying the sunshine and fresh air every day from dawn until dark, so if she's not there when you tune in, be sure to try back later.

Help Name the New Foal

Let the baby name suggestions commence!!! Submit a name, and we will email you when we pick a name for the foal before we even post the name publicly on social media. If we pick your name, we'll send you a special Mareworthy gift.
Guidelines:
  1. Only names for a FILLY will be considered at this time!!!! We're not putting thoughts of a colt into the universe. 😜
  2. Names should take the foal's pedigree into consideration - pedigree posted below for you to reference.
  3. Names must meet Jockey Club standards. (Click here to view the rules)
  4. Take a minute to review the Important Information to Consider posted below.

Important information to consider for the name:
  • Shakespeare connection
    • Freja’s sire is Shakespeare, and her Jockey Club name is a play on Lady Macbeth.
    • Include’s dam was Illeria, and Illyria was the setting for Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night" (also referred to as "What You Will")
  • Greek goddesses
    • Freja was named based on the Norse goddess, and Dyana is inspired by Wonder Woman because Kyle loves the Amazons and mythological goddesses.
    • Illyria (Include’s dam was Illeria) was a region in southern Europe that recognized several Greek goddesses.
  • Ontario connection
    • Both Freja and Include’s dam, Illeria, were foaled in Ontario.
  • Include’s dam’s last foal
    • Illeria had her last foal on April 7, 2009 - a filly named Officer's Holiday.
    • Dyana was born on April 7th and Freja was born in April 2009.
    • Include was retired after his stud season last year, so Freja’s foal will be one of his last foals as well.
Ideally, we're looking for the best way to tie a connection to Include's dam (Illeria) into the name for a filly since that could cover several connections. Also, for Dyana’s Jockey Club name we recognized Vertiformer’s sire, Dynaformer, so it only seems fitting to follow a “formula” of pairing one of the sire’s parents with Freja’s Jockey Club name (Lady Macjazz) in some way. Lady Dyanaformer came from Lady Macjazz and Vertiformer’s sire, Dynaformer, with several other meaningful influences.
